Reading through this thread was awesome, you guys really nailed all of my choices there.
Les Binks
Capricornus
Fenriz
Teitanblood guy
I also really liked Proscriptors work on VITRIOL (and everything really, but on that album the riffs and drums really blend well together). The drums on the first part of Goatpenis' "Combustion Light Gas Gun" were really cool too |

Great performances indeed. The drumming on the Confessor is fucking excellent! I'd have to add Steve Priestly on 'Morbid Tales' and John Christ on first three Danzig albums. Always Ride For Revenge too on any release for pure heaviness and sounding ike John Bonham produced by Steve Albini. Blaash kills on the TGH releases too. _________________

Yngwie Malmsteen: Facing the Animal - Awesome drumming by Cozy Powell (Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake etc.). Too bad he died in a car-crash a bit later. |

Great post!
Fenriz was a god back in the death days. Paul Ledney had a pretty interesting style too and the most maniacal drummer must be J. Read.
One of my favorite examples of drumming on a single song is
Phycon from Armagedda "Emperor from the eternal dark"
(the black metal endsieg III version)
Does anyone know who that guy was? Does he or has he played in any other projects where he drums like this? I wish more Armagedda demos sounded so sick.
Example

that was my very first thought when I read the title.
didn't read the thread: has the guy on mgla's groza been mentioned yet? strong performance and also the drum sound slays.
then of corpse burr and lombardo must be named for obvious reasons.
ullrich must be named as a perfect counterexample for obvious reasons.
adding his stunning part to the depressing twistedness of confessor's debut was s. shelton. |

Completely agree, as a big Yngwie-fan (last great YJM-album and Cozy was a big part of the feeling, musically very much like Rainbow) I mentioned he instead, awesome drummer anyway.
EDIT - Check studio-version of Braveheart if you haven't heard it, really like the drumming, with shitty drums this (and the whole album) would sound a lot different. This strange video must be the only one with studio-version in Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5DASCGxJnU
