| Inspired by the Iron Maiden poll. I listened Holy Diver yesterday and thought would be cool a Dio poll as well. First 3 are classics but Holy Diver is the top for me. One of my fave classic heavy metal albums. RIP Ronnie James. |

Holy Diver has long been a favourite, but tbh I've only heard the other two a couple of times...and they didn't seem as inspired.
'Straight through the Heart' has to be one of the greatest riffs of all time  |

Nothing per se, but the whole "band poll" idea has got way out of hand in the last couple of months. At least try making it more interesting by confining it to a specific time frame, something like "Best post-classic Dio" would have been cool, it's pretty much obvious that Holy Diver is his masterpiece.

Ok, you are right in some points. Anyway we have this topic so everyone can share thoughts about Dio. For example about your idea. If post-classic, I would vote for Lock Up The Wolves (if that counts) or Angry Machines (really dark mood on this album). |

Holy Diver but Dream Evil has also been a personal favorite too. The first 4 are all great albums. For post classic I might pick Strange Highways.

Should have put more choices as Dio, the singer, himself has such a vast Library ... what about Rising or Heaven And Hell ...
Anyway the first two Dio albums are near identical in my book ... but I choose The Last In Line because of the cooler album art

Everything. You listed three albums when the band has a lot more. Sacred Heart but not Dream Evil?  That album's terrible compared to a lot of other Dio stuff. |
