They were not. They were antifa and reds. Don't know about their reception but this country has a very bad tradition in extreme metal so reception was probably bad or non-existant...
Not my time nor geographical zone but I recall some stories; they participated in left wing manifestations and also stormed a record company because of some supposedly nazi/fascist/right wing bands in their roster... can't recall the label's name now...

I consider both Metal On Metal and Forged In Fire to be absolute classics. Somehow, I've never heard anything else they've released - but those two albums are killer IMO.

Some of the bands or the record-label came up with the term "blackgaze" to describe all these soft post-rock-bm-bands so it probably stems from there.
Also the bandmembers are usually so embarassed to play the music live that they mostly just gaze at their feet. |
