I'm selling a lot of shit I don't need at the moment. All big collections could use a culling.
I used to get more bent out of shape about owning everything. Right now the only bands I'm collecting full discographies from are Sacriphyx and Satan's Satyrs, who, to my knowledge, haven't released any shitty material yet... _________________

Is anyone here seriously worried about perhaps having OCD? Every single person who listens to Black Metal is insane in one or another way. |
Gotta agree with that actually. OCD is usually a minor concern in the context of an average black metal fan's psychiatric issues. _________________ Thread derailed

haha, wise words I agree.
Personally, I'm rather addicted to discover more great stuff, thats why I keep on buying shit non-stop, but I dont care for pressings and rather try to get everything as cheap as possible, so I can survive... |

As someone else already said, it's only a problem if you can't balance record buying with regular life. I work a full time job and have a family, mortgage, etc. I still buy tons of music and multiple copies of the same record on different vinyl colors if I like the band enough. I always tell my wife that I need a lifetime supply of Fallen Angel of Doom.... LP. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. it is an addiction for people that have addictive personalities, I had a problem with it until I got my own place. had to cut back for rent money, but yes, it's an addiction, but I always felt it was a positive one. It's not like one has nothing to show for their money when buying records, better than buying heroin _________________ ┼ Hail Satan┼

I view music as art. There is no shame in collecting art and helping to fund artists. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

Some cases are worse than others like someone noted already. If you starve regularly because you had to own both colors of the new Thergothon reissue for example when you've already got the original, you have a serious problem. If you choose to buy a bad ass records for 50 euros instead of eating good food for 2-3 days in the end of the month like I've done several times myself, you am a music fanatic, and probably a little nuts like the rest of the people on this forum.
I have less than 300 records, almost every single one gets proper spinning when I have the time and I try to take a good part of every day to spin 2-5 records and enjoy it. If I don't like records I try to trade them for something I like, value of records does not really matter to me, I've always preferred a regular black disc instead of die hard versions or gay orange versions that cost several extra euros. I've given shitty records/releases away even if valuable because the metal equity market has killed the spirit of the music a long time ago and I won't be a part of that shit. |

I only buy records that are awesome....
Problem is there are a lot of awesome records out there.
However I usually prune my collection and buy different records, or I use the money I earn working at my job to buy other awesome records.
My wife buys $700 purses and $300 shoes, same thing really..... We save for retirement, vacations and own a home, all about balance...... _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/ngadke |

Well, my "problem" is that most of the stuff that I don't listen to anymore is worth next to nothing. To me, it#s just not worth the effort of even getting it off the shelf and putting it on Discogs or whatever. My OCDness comes more from the fact that I can't stand a crate of crappy records next to my shelf. |

Well me too, but also point that you have time to enjoy art, and sometimes you buy/consume more then you can take... i would in some of those cases just put 1 2 dollars via paypal to band, plus supporting band/label and liking it is not same thing

| hmmm i guess there is never too much awesome records, though big amout of good ones... i cannot deny that
