Have to confess that havent ever heard one single song from;
Possessed
Destruction
Voivod
Mercyful Fate
Been into metal seriously since end of eighties but somehow missed them. And now it feels like "pretending" to start to like them. For me some things are related to time and many records are better with nostalgia _________________ Mors fennico more |

I haven't checked out the other thrash/death bands such as Vulcano or Sextrash. I need to fix that. _________________

I managed to get through my 25 year-long devotion to the cult of stupid chains and dumb patches without hearing a single note from Manilla Road. _________________ Thread derailed

Interested in trading a dub of Apokalypsimz for a dub of Purpurearagotamiceps?

Add me to the Voivod club as well.

If yes then I am guilty for most of them. |
Maybe i have, maybe i havent. But im guessing they are 3rd rate thrash/power with gay high pitched vocals. Lump em all together as the same band for all I care. And toss Laaz Rockit in there too. Yuck. |

I've heard Megadeth, Voivod, Manilla Road and Motörhead, maybe a few tracks from each, but these I've never seeked out or properly listened to. Largely out of lack of interest.
I've been trying to think of a well known black/death/heavy metal band that I simply haven't heard AT ALL. Can't do it! And I know there has to be many. Damn, not having heard things used to be a lot easier.
edit. Wait, ANTHRAX!
edit2. No. Heard that crap too...
edit. KYUSS? Yes! I don't know what it is, but I'VE NEVER HEARD KYUSS! Yeah! _________________ §:-«l |

pure curiosity forced me to at least "try out" every bigger metal band in the last 23 years, but I must admit there are plenty that I would not figure out if you'd play them.
NEVER listened to? hm, ... KAT (pol) and def leppard but I guess that's all.
there is some modern (but commercially succesful) shit I really give a flying fuck about like Sabaton, sonata arctica, or most Napalm records bands. |

Even though i'm part of the younger age and generation i still find it as confusing as the older folks here that some of the most important black and death metal bands have been disregarded by the youtube metal generation. Even in the early 00's when i first started listening to metal bands like darkthrone, mayhem, burzum, bathory and emperor were among my first introductions to black metal with bands like morbid angel, cannibal corpse, death, deicide, obituary and entombed being among my first death metal.
I can understand a bit with bands like Emperor who have been broken up for at least a decade now (?) compared to burzum who is now releasing albums again, and darkthrone who has never stopped, or even Mayhem who at least gets the inner circle, helvete, and shock value.
Maybe i just feel this way since the majority of this site (and people mentioning them) is based on black and death metal that it just seems odd to worship 2nd/3rd rate clones of these bands, and obscure demos while not feeling it was worth the time to acknowledge the bands that came first. reversal revionist historians i guess will comment there's no point in this day and age because they won't provide anything new to them. I mean yeah if you take the history out of the discussion, someone listening to watain's casus luciferi and mayhem's de mysteriis dom sathanas can argue that if you didn't have the timeline, there's not much more one has vs. the other in terms of musical content. But the history is very important, because without those bands you wouldn't have the same bands you listen to. Give credit where its due, and realize that even if the band is "generic" to your ears and not really providing anything new, they were the first to do it.
For me personally there isn't a lot of bands that come to mind that i haven't listened to at all. The biggest offences are mostly sludge because i only got into that a couple years ago with the crust/sludge bands like dystopia, grief, noothgrush, etc. For that i've still yet to give a real listen to bands like Crowbar, Neurosis, and to a lesser extent Acid Bath. |

Black Twilight Circle. You are not missing out by not exploring the entire circle, but you need to give Arizmenda, Tukaaria, Volahn, Dolorvotre a look. |
