I know the "Legion" era of Marduk is by far the most hated... but I have to admit Nightwing is one of my top favorite Marduk releases of the early days.
I think at this point the band hadn't fully dwelled into the whole norsecore nonsence found in Panzer Division... Sure it has a few tracks that NEVER let up, Slay the Nazarene, Bloodtide, and Of Hells Fire... etc. But the riffs are far more interesting.
My favorite moments on Nightwing are the slower moments... Dreams of Blood and Iron, and Dracole Wayda are crushing.
Overall I really think this is the most overlooked album in Marduk's collection. Am I alone on this one? |

| I think it's a good album, but not a masterpiece. I remember 5-6 years ago this was praised as one of the best black metal albums ever made on Metal Archives, I never understood that. Some songs are great but it gets quickly repetitive. |

First three songs are good, Of Hell's Fire might as well be the best one they've ever written in the Legion era. Everything else is a boredom shitfest, especially the slow songs.

My favorite Marduk album. Always liked it.
Had it on (dubbed) tape as a child/teenager, and the tape started fucking up towards the end of the album, which made the last song - the outro - sound completely alien and otherworldly. Loved it like that, and still hum that evil, creepy marching tune from time to time. I was utterly disappointed when I later got it on CD, and the outro sounded all clinical and clean. |

I actually read this as "first three albums.." Oops.
Even so, I only really care for the debut, the other two are solid enough though. Can't say they're bad.
