I realize there are threads about this band already but I don't feel like searching through pages and pages for what I really want to know which is this: What are Sabbat's ESSENTIAL albums / eras / releases??
They're one of those bands that I've seen mentioned a lot but delving into them is daunting because they have DOZENS of releases out and they've been around for a long time. Also they have a show coming up in SF and I'm from the bay area so I'd like to be familiar with their material if I decide to go |

You can't go wrong with their first four albums if you're more into black and death metal. The most recent material are more thrash/heavy metal oriented but still excellent. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. Sabbat and Metalucifer are the best Japanese metal bands as far as I'm concerned. _________________

First five 7", the studio albums and Live 666 is all you really need. Everything else is basically collectors crap that doesn't add much. _________________ Permabanned |

Agreed.
Some of the early demos are very worth hearing as well, though, especially Bloody Countess. _________________ Good/Bad traders list

Why wouldn't I like them? '80ies band, decent musicians, songs that flow. This is obviously a completely different issue compared to that Abigail teethless tryhard. _________________ Permabanned |

I don't like to bitchin' in general but all those gezolucifer, gezonslaught, karmagmassacre, sabbatical desasterminator etc and all that playing with words starting to bother me.Lack of seriousness,of inspiration, joking or stupidity I don't know how to explain this.
Someone can claim that only music counts etc..And their first albums are in the same spirit.
I agree with Yosuke that their first albums rule. Those are the stuff I still enjoy.
Truth is ,I have lost my interest for this band. |

All albums are excellent and the first eps too. Some other eps have good tracks, but it will take a while to find them all...
Anyway, seeing Sabbat last year at the NWN! fest was a dream that came true! Fantastic concert! _________________ Ides sofrer como cães!
