Apparently we've never had a thread for this awesome band. Not everything they released was gold but I still listen to their '90ies records a lot, Knights of the Cross and Tunes of War are excellent all the way through. Not a big fan of the '80ies albums except for HM breakdown and I completely lost track on them after Rheingold.

Also dig the 90ies albums quite a bit. Circle of Witches!

Definitely their best stuff started to flourish in the 90's. Unlike most of the German bands which had their prime in the 80's.

Great band! I bought "Witch Hunter" when it came out and I made a tape from my vinyl that I used to crank while mowing the lawn! It's got some great tracks on it, "Night Drifter" was one of my favorites! I only bought the first three, I never heard anything after the "War Games" LP, which was still decent from what I remember.

I've only listened to Witch Hunter. This is a band with such a huge discography that I never got into much else, maybe I'll start with Excalibur and go backwards from there.

Knights of the Cross is excellent. Some other good tunes in the 90's too. Latest MCD preceding the album was pretty good too. I'm yet to listen to the full-length.

At the same time I happened to see one of their live shows on DVD (the one that came with Yesterday single, I think) and that was just plain horrible. Not sure if it was due to bad sound or the band being crappy live.

Heavt Metal Breakdown is a fantastic piece of 80s speed metal nd includes one of the best cover songs in all of metal: their version of the Rolling Stones "2000 Light Years from Home."

Totally like their "The gravedigger" album, but never had the chance to listen anything beyond that, but it seems they have been consistent...discovered White Skull through them, which was great...and those raspy quasi-melodic vocals can only fit in a heavy metal band...

Some of their eighties stuff is good from what I've heard, no point really choosing any of them as they're all kinda interchangeable. As for their newer stuff I guess the Reaper and the s/t are the ones I played the most. They get kind of old after a while.

Excalibur, Knights of the Cross and Tunes of War are all I care for. They got a tad boring after that.
I always see people praising Rheingold but it just sounds like a watered down version of the albums I mentioned.
