I think the problem with "From The Depths..." is that instead of him playing the drum parts completely he just played parts and then resorted to "loops" for the song. Made it very sterile and loss of dynamic..

Pretty sure he did that on the early albums too.

I will eat my hat if the drums on Jesus' Tod aren't looped.

Lyrics
East of the sun and west of the moon,
We'll build a dream house of love, dear.
Near to the sun in the day
near to the moon at night,
We'll live in a lovely way, dear
Living on love and pale moonlight.
Just you and I, forever and a day,
Love will not die, we'll keep it that way,
Up among the stars we'll find
A harmony of life to a lovely tune,
East of the sun and west of the moon, dear,
East of the sun and west of the moon.

Well I wasn't "browsing" at all. I just noticed that this Burzum record shares a title with an old jazz standard (one performed by a great many non-aryans over the last 80 years or so) and found it highly amusing.

And anyway Varg is still a goddamn moron. Laughing

haha no need for that but to me I cannot hear any tranzients that would signal the loop spot, and I have done way more than my fair share of loop editing for bands in a studio setting. He played everything live back in the day and so I wouldn't think he would have resorted to that on Filosofem. Hopefully he didn't, I should say...

EDIT: there are some spots in the double bass parts that you can hear him rush or just lose it for a split second then get it back. Normal for that kind of part to have that unless you're Tommy Lee or some shit... Fuck Tommy Lee anyways......

A friend of mine is convinced it's not Varg himself singing on Filosofem, because of the distortion and all.

Listening to the album a couple of times in a row starts getting me duobtfull either..

Anyone with the same thoughts?

You are right, it's Dead singing from beyond the grave. Laughing

Why should it not be he himself? And trust me, if it'd been someone else he'd come out of the closet long ago to have his share of the fame, like Samoth did when he introcuded himself as "member of Burzum" (for playing bass at "Aske"-MCD).
