The cover art alone will sell it for him.

The full album is on YT.

Some parts could function well as soundtrack for a video-game, but standing on its own it's overall just cheap and boring.

I can't see myself even trying to give this a listen not only because his post prison albums were shite, but also because I never listen to "ambient" (or whatver the fuck it's called) music...

"Aske" does indeed kill.

I like the new album, I don't know if I would have given it a second's notice without the Burzum on it, but I don't think it's bad. It's good background music for a picnic or meditation.

Do you tend to listen to electronica/ambient in general?

i don't "tend" to listen to anything in general. What I do do (huhuh, he said "do do") is I listen to music of any kind and if I like it I like it. Sometimes, I'll write a sarcastic reply to a thread on NWN!, but only if I'm in the mood.

Judging by the overall negative response, I guess I'm gonna like this album. : P I'll give a listen to Daudi first though, it's been quite some time since I last tried that one.

If people who liked the prison albums dislike this album then it surely must be bad!

Also, I can't be the only one who thinks that "From the Depths of Darkness" wasn't bad. I know that a lot of metalheads seem to confuse fuzzy guitars and nostalgia for "atmosphere", but surely somebody else must realize that it's still the same compositions.

I think the problem with "From The Depths..." is that instead of him playing the drum parts completely he just played parts and then resorted to "loops" for the song. Made it very sterile and loss of dynamic..

Just thinking about who the audience is for this release. Is it people who like elctronica/ambient? Because I feel like it's pretty amateurish for the genre. Metalheads? Those who listen to 'music of any kind and if I like it I like it'? People who liked his prison Casio meanderings? I'm honestly curious because if he wants to keep food on the table and a cave over his head, it's a valid point.

Autistic netnazis, discography completionists, and metal noobs who buy into the Vikernes brand and are dumb enough to pick up an album without previewing.

I'd say the best version of "East of the Sun..." is the Billie Holiday version. Varg is such a fucking retard.

Quote:

Lyrics
East of the sun and west of the moon,
We'll build a dream house of love, dear.
Near to the sun in the day
near to the moon at night,
We'll live in a lovely way, dear
Living on love and pale moonlight.
Just you and I, forever and a day,
Love will not die, we'll keep it that way,
Up among the stars we'll find
A harmony of life to a lovely tune,
East of the sun and west of the moon, dear,
East of the sun and west of the moon.
