One of my favorites! Glad this is finally on vinyl!!
I still wear my 'Rebirth' shirt constantly... It is going to disintegrate soon.
Will there be any North American distros or will I have to shell out the international shipping again? _________________ Helcaraxë - Epic Heathen Death Metal

I'm in the camp that would also just prefer a regular jacket with 45 RPM 12'' rather than 21 minutes crammed on a single side than have an etching on top of a much heavier and expensive gatefold jacket.
Seriously, not every record needs to have elaborate packaging and gimmicks, especially ones that don't have a current vinyl edition. Keep it simple. This is still about the music right? |

Well, if it's still about the music, buy the record regardless of the packaging... _________________ Sale list (Burzum, DTL, Sunn O))), Darkthrone, Abruptum, Windir, Hellfest, Shining, Fissur, ...) : http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=710004#710004

It obviously stopped "being about the music" long ago, when all these unprofessional one-man-labels came into the picture. Signing shit bands that release shit records made in shit pressing plants for shit consumers with shit taste in metal. _________________ Thread derailed

Interested in trading a dub of Apokalypsimz for a dub of Purpurearagotamiceps?

No expert on this, so I may ask: How does the etching affect the sound quality? I mean, it's not the same side. |

| It affects the sound quality by preventing you from using two sides of a record instead of one for the same quantity of music. No physical phenomenons or anything else are involved as far as I know, haha. |

The same problem as with regular picture-discs then. |

Usually I am fond of your cynicism, though when you made blanket statements like "bands that release shit records made in shit pressing plants for shit consumers with shit taste in metal" it's incredibly frustrating. I am sure there are people here lining up to say that some of your favourite artists are complete shit. Musical tatse is subjective, and different labels cater to different segments of the market. |

I think he means that 21 minutes of music stuffed onto one side of an LP causes a loss of sound quality. Instead of an etched side-b, the music should have been spread over two sides so to ensure sound is of utmost quality despite the label having to pay around 150 euros more for the side-b pressing (though I imagine the side-b etching cost quite a bit anyway - probably nearly as much).
Pic discs usually don't provide for optimum sound quality regardless.
Or am I missing the point? |

No, you're right: Too much music on one side = bad sound quality
I was just living in the fantasy that all picture-discs are one sided, for example like the Massacre-7" I once had. My mistake. |

Yeah, except that picture-discs sound bad because of of the way they're made in the first place.
I never found any appeal in picture-discs, bad sound, ruined artworks... |
