The Viper Slithers in the Ashes of What Remains is the first full-length of Italy's FUOCO FATUO, and it follows on the path of the band's two 2012 EP's. It is crushing doom once again, only now the trio from Varese has heightened its senses and has delivered a much darker and more intense work. Over the course of five songs and more than fifty two minutes of aural darkness, Fuoco Fatuo never relent and craft bleak, monolithic and ominous landscapes, the likes of which extreme music hardly ever witnesses anymore. Enjoy slowly and fully...

Love that album. I'm sure some will disagree but I find it as crushing as the latest WITCHRIST, at least in the same heavy-as-fuck vein...

heavy as fuck indeed, I was surprised by the slight departure between their 2012 EP's and this recording, this is much more bleak, no color literally. great recording as well, the sound is magnificent.

a few reviews of this recording, that by the way has been released in vinyl and CD by Iron Tyrant:

'Whoever claims that making slow music is easy, is clearly an ignorant fool. When music is robbed of it’s pace, there are a lot of elements that must be added to it, in order to compensate for that loss of pace. If done poorly, the resultant could be a monotonous drone capable of boring the heck out of anybody who listens to it. So evidently, a lot of skill is required to make slow music that is captivating and enjoyable, and not boringly monotonous. There are quite a few bands capable of this feat and the newest addition to the list is Fuoco Fatuo from Italy.'

"When I reviewed Fuoco Fatuo’s suffocatingly heavy EP compilation late last year, I stated that we’d likely have an absolute beast on our hands whenever the band got around to releasing a full length. I hate to say I told you so, but it turns out this is one of those extremely rare occasions where I was right; the Italian trio have at last unleashed The Viper Slithers in the Ashes of what Remains, and you can rest assured that this crawling king snake of an album is every bit the monster you’d expect it to be."
