At press now, looking for distributors worldwide...
BMR014 FUNERAL BITCH - The Demos EP
Re-press on red vinyl to be available on March the 25th.
"Funeral Bitch recorded two demos with me and we split up. I liked the arrangements of this music, because more Punk ideals were prevalent in the music. Alex [Olvera] was an intersting character, while Pete Thompsen was a total drunk, and it just seemed to work. The most famous shows were with Death at the infamous Exit Club in Chicago to 20 people, and later with the Cro-Mags and about 300 people at the Cabaret Metro, still in existence today. The bass was so loud that the Chicago Police came and nearly arrested me. The Double Scoup PA bin with JBL's were a bit too much I guess. This was the perfect bulldozer, and the Cromags loved it. Funeral Bitch was created after the recording of the Death Strike and Master demos a year later in 1986. Master was short-lived in the beginning. Funeral Bitch was a project with the guitarist Alex Olvera from the band Assault. We began as Assault and Alex said we should change the band name to Funeral Bitch. I accepted his idea and we recorded a few demos. This was also short-lived as I had begun practicing with Aaron Nickeas late nights after Funeral Bitch practice and we started a band called Abomination. I really just stole the drummer from this band called Abomination and Nickeas stole the name. Later, members of the past two bands got together and came up with another soon to be legend from Chicago called Funeral Nation." - Paul Speckmann 2011
Includes both demos (from ´86 and ´87) remastered from the original 2" reel (2nd one) and tape (1st one).

I have a 7" from the first pressing I bought in the past year.
It has no bottom end, and sounds like a crappy HC punk record compared to the bandcamp site linked above.
This is one of the times where a CD will sound the best ,since this is not on a 10" or 12 " |

Demo I (side A) is 8:30 and Demo II (side B) is 6:37.
Sound quality is good. Demo I is more raw and definitely has an old "HC punk" sound vibe as Mr. Mlotek says. The sound is taken from a first generation tape as the master is lost. The lenght on this side only affects the main level of the mix, sounding a bit lower than the side B, that in the other hand sounds perfect, remastered from the original 2" reel for a vinyl press. All approved by Paul Speckmann himself.
First time I see / hear a negative review on the sound of this 7" after more than 700 copies sold. http://www.stylusplus.co.uk/ _________________ Black Mass Records |

Review at Voices from the Darkside: http://www.voicesfromthedarkside.de/Albums-EPs-Demos/F/FUNERAL-BITCH--7686.html
"The digging in the legacy of Metal is deep these years, a lot of obscure and hard to get releases are being reissued in different formats again and again, and often that's a joy for people like me, who loves to dig into the history of bands and the music I love. This time around we have gotten the demos from the shortlived Paul Speckmann band FUNERAL BITCH, that started out as ASSAULT, without releasing anything under that moniker as far as I know, and then went on to release two demos as FUNERAL BITCH before WAR CRY / DEATH STRIKE / MASTER and ABOMINATION took over as Speckmann's main priorities. This is from the early days of Death Metal, when it still was a crossover infused bastard of darkness, tuned down Speed Metal riffing and a punkish 'we don't give a fuck' attitude, together with noisy guitar leads, pounding double bass drumming and a puked form for growl / scream. Speckmann is on fire on the demos, absolutely amazing vocals and a big noisy bass, eating up the sound picture and creating a wall of demolition, where the guitar is riffing below, besides when it surfaces with a frenzy and crazy lead, awesome. All fans of early Death Metal, Crossover and Swedish Death Metal will enjoy this release more than a lot, really good music for a rainy Danish day and quite an impact on an early Friday morning, some killer music that has been reissued here, props up and more info at: www.blackmassrecords.com"

Definitely. I don't think it sounds compressed at all. _________________ GRAVE RITUAL PRODUCTIONS
