Thoughts?
I've been listening to Slayer almost nonstop for the past couple of weeks and after listening to Show No Mercy through Divine Intervention several times, it occurred to me that I like Divine more than South of Heaven and Season in the Abyss. Both South and Seasons lack the aggression and hatred present on Reign, but it's back in spades on Divine. I won't elaborate much, but I consider Dittohead one of my alltime favorite Slayer songs, I like it almost as much as Jesus Saves, probably more so if the solo wasn't a little weak.

The production is a little muddy, Lombardo's absence is notable, but overall a near-perfect Slayer album. |

Good album but obviously far away from the immense class of the first five. I guess it's one of the best post-'80ies thrash records of all times, but that's not saying much. Probably the strongest non-classic Slayer album. _________________ Thread derailed

It's OK. I haven't listened to it in years (or Diabolus, for that matter). It's so far beneath all the albums that came before it, that for me there's really no point in listening to it.
Then again, I happen to think God Hates Us All is an excellent album, and I know most people hate it. _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

if you are crazy with the band ,you love it .
but includes fantastic classic slayer riffs anyway, and araya spits poison as usual.
essential for non slayer fans.they will appreciate this at a future time.
no need to compare with old classics.to sum it up,this is slayer 100%!! |

I think if you listen to South of Heaven, Seasons and Divine in succession, you might understand what I'm talking about? Or not, whatever. The songs just seem angrier and faster in general on Divine.
They change from time to time for me, but if I had to rank them right now:
1. Show No Mercy (never changes)
2. Reign in Blood
3. Hell Awaits
4. Divine Intervention
5. South of Heaven
6. Seasons in the Abyss |

i'm worshipper of this band,i can't tell which album is better from other.
south of heaven is dark, bitter and poisonous
seasons is more atmospheric and technical
divine is aggressive fast with some hate hardcore puffs.with few words GODLY! |

sarcasm off: the only good record they've done post-RIB
I'd probably put Dittohead on a top10 Slayer songs list

oh there's a differance? some bands are cool even though they get big? what's the criteria for becoming uncool?
since RIB they've done that record over and over again. Like AC/DC they've put out crap ripoffs of their masterpieces for the last 25 years.
Divine stand out though, solid record. |

I just really, really don't care about Ghost and I'm not even sure why you brought them up in this thread, but there was a time, believe it or not, that Slayer was one of the most violent and controversial bands on the planet and they made it big without compromising anything. I mean, shit, their most classic album kicks off with an ode to Joseph Mengele on it. That aside, they possess more talent than any band around then and now and will never be topped. They were innovators of the metal genre. With that said, I don't really care about whatever Ghost is trying to do and I also don't care about whatever Slayer is trying to do these days.
I can't believe I have to list reasons as to why Slayer's early work is beyond criticism of any kind.
Ghost...
FUCK OFF!!!
edit: Actually, South and Seasons were a departure from the RiB sound. Look, if you're not a longtime Slayer fan, I shouldn't bust your balls too much, just don't make blanket statements like that if you don't know what you're talking about. |

I'm a big slayer fan sure. big metallica fan too. lifelong thrash fan whatever.
brought up ghost because I was tired of the nwn underground shit where some bands become uncool if they sell too much and become big. which seem to be alright for all the big old bands but new bands aren't allowed to be big.
I'd rank the records like you did aswell. |

when it comes to thrash I tend to like the punkier stuff more than the stuff that's more classic metal. Metallica is the exception though.
probably why I like divine and think season and south aren't as good as the rest. |
