Hardcore musicians doing Metal?
Nothing new there, as that has been going on since the mid 80's.

But legit Metal musicians doing Hardcore?
This happens much less for sure...at least I don't hear much about it and I pay attention to things like this.

Cannibal Corpse's Rob Barrett has a HC project that may drop something at some point in 2013. This band does not yet have a name as far as I know though, but I am psyched to hear it.

Current members of NUNSLAUGHTER and a former MIDNIGHT member team up to bring us SATANIC THREAT. Pretty damn cool.
Check it out here:

Don of the Dead sounds like a Pat Dubar (Uniform Choice) clone!
Awesome!

2 semi examples of this:

1. SOD - but only semi because Billy Milano was 100% from the HC scene, but teamed up with 3 Metalheads to make SOD.

2. DISFEAR - semi because a Metalhead, Tom ATG, became their singer. But had Tom not joined, they would still be a Punk/HC/Crust band.

This band has been around for while, I remember that 7" from years ago. I wouldn't consider this 'hardcore' anymore than I would consider Dethklok 'death metal'. It's a joke band. Parody music.

NYC Mayhem were a metal band that turned into a hardcore band.

Nailbomb were folks from Sepultura right? Been a while.

Psychic Possessor went from thrash metal to goofy hardcore.

He was doing Skitsystem during mid-90's as well.

Uffe Cederlund is also in Disfear, if I am not mistaken.

+ Karlén from Merciless and Fredrik (ex-Unleashed etc.). Absolutely great fucking band.

Sweden has lots of metal/punk connections... Mattias Kennhed of Macrodex/House of Usher was in No Security, Meanwhile etc., Johan Jansson of Uncurbed has been/is in tons of bands, Magnus Forsberg of Tribulation/Bombs of Hades has Puffball...

hard to tell sometimes if people were punks or metalheads first. besides the skitsystem/at the gates and disfear affairs swedish death metal and crust/punk scenes have been always closely connected, fredrik wallenberg from sarcasm joined skitsystem, kenko from macrodex/house of usher still plays in meanwhile (were dischange), johan jansson from moondark/centinex/demonical... played drums in uncurbed, nowadays miasmal share members with agrimonia and martyrdod, bombs of hades drummer played in dissober, usurpress have diskonto singer (who sang also for embalmed and sportlov!) and discontrol drummer, raised fist drummer played in dark funeral (and sportlov again), rodrigo/blood harvest used to sing for satanic surfers and intensity, could go on for ages...
