We all love the classic albums, don't we. But what about the post-2000 stuff (=All Hell Breaks Loose and following)? I remember having great expectations from their reunion, a drummer in speed/thrash metal is usually easier to replace than a guitarist/singer, but they all fell apart quickly. Way too modern production and Schmier's vocals just don't sound the way they did on the first records, not just that but also the songs often had a bad nu-metal vibe. I gave up after Metal Discharge (which to be fair was somehow better than AHBL and The Antichrist) and haven't really checked their last records -I doubt I lost much though.

Ehhh I can't get into much of it. It's really tacky and over produced. I'll admit I do like a few tracks off of Day of Reckoning but that's about it.

No hope for the new album what so ever.

The Antichrist is a great album that suffers from some of the worst production I've ever heard.

Had high expectations in 2000 about this reunion. It was great to see them live as I haven't had the chance before, but the album itself ("All Hell Breaks Loose") was disappointing: The modern Tägtgren-production, the silly lyrics, the weak songs and the UGLY artwork. Best thing was the inclusion of the demo from 1984 as bonus. Not exactly "The Butcher Strikes Back", if you ask me.

Plus Schmier seems to get dumber and dumber the older he gets.

BTW, how many Live-albums/DVDs/compilations etc. have they put out by now, 300?

The only reunion shit I've heard is Antichrist. It's ok I guess. Thrash til Death is a good tune.

The Antichrist is a great album, the rest is absolutely meh.

"Thrash Anthems" is the worst thing in the history of thrash metal since Anthrax! Crying or Very sad

I liked the first three somewhat for a while, but I got bored of them pretty quickly and winded up selling them. Definitely expendable, though not offensively bad.

Thrash 'til death is actually the only song on those three albums I heard/owned that 100% lives up to old Destruction in terms of both songwriting and vocals. I just don't understand why the rest of the album sucks so bad, I remember that "Nailed to the cross" song gave me the creeps and not in a good way, or that other Bullet from hell abomination. Way too chugga chugga for my taste.

That chicken-like vocals by Schmier after the classic albums suck a lot, yet their "comeback" albums are much better than those of Wimprator or that punk tunes by Sodom...

With all due respect, there's not much punk in Sodom's latest albums (= post Til Death Do Us Unite) and Violent Revolution/Enemy of God to my ears sound more convincing than modern day Destruction.

I really like Antichrist and still spin it every now and then. Everything after that seems to all just merge into one long record as far as im concerned.
