Voted when the thread was 2 pages long or so. "Wrath of the Tyrant" is Timeless Classic. MLP & ITNE are Masterpieces. ATTWAD is still VERY bearable. The rest is hardly acceptable, if you're not an artfag or so. That is what is starting to happen when musicians are coming to an idea to show all all their abilities in one riff/song/album.

Yes. There's progressive and avantgarde music, and then there's Dream Theater "prog". Later Emperor tends to fall into the latter category.

Did you fucking sign to NWN because you like one band in their roster, or do you wanna play some intellectual gaylord discrediting rest of clueless NWN peasants. Especially when the album that's supposedly better is a book example of shitty "progressive" aids-infested garbage. |

Yet he is right. Even In the Nightside Eclipse has a couple of useless tracks among the fabulous ones IMO. The following albums are pure wankery, with some good moments, but no darkness at all.

Hey, do not quarrel, guys! In my system of values most of NWN! releases and late Emperor belongs to the same category. But I'm enough polite to never even enter any related topics and posting my holy opinion over there.  Tastes differ, either accept that or throw out all electronic devices, move to the forest and start wiping your arse with a stone.

I simply don't care for IX or Prometheus simply because I'm not a fan of the style they chose to play. If you dig it, by all means that is YOUR opinion.
As I stated earlier... it reminds me too much of Ihsahn's solo stuff. |

| My favourite is Wrath of the Tyrant, I love Ancient Queen and Lord of the Storms, so fuckin' raw and "necro". Then I can not decide whether it's the s/t or ITNE, both are very good. ATTWAD was a fine album too. But from then on I totally lost interest in Emperor. |

I tend to agree with this, I'm getting real sick of the "Blah blah is good and everything you guys listen to (especially when it comes to "goaty" metal) is shit" sentiment on this board. Take your progressive mature bass solos somewhere else (to paraphrase Blutkvlt).
