| Voted for Wrath Of The Tyrant. Up to IX Equlibirum I can say I enjoy their materials except ITNE but in general I never been a huge fan. I found In the Nightside an extremely boring album, never understood the hype around that record. |

| I used to love this band when they were active. But I just can't listen to it toady. In sounds so extremely cheesy. "In The Nightside Eclipse" too. And it's not even a funny kind of cheesy like "Dark Medieval Times", just a truely boring one. Emperor aged really, really badly.... |

Same here. Even though Wrath of the Tyrant is my favorite, I definitely preferred the last two to ITNE (and Anthems). I got ITNE after I was thoroughly familiar with Wrath though and it was the remastered version to boot, guess it just sounded to toothless compared to Wrath.
As for Anthems, I guess I tried to convince myself to "like" it as a teenager, since it was supposed to be a "masterpiece", but the pomp, and the horrible production always put me off. I am pretty sure that was also the remastered version though.
Haven't listened to either in a long while, maybe I should give them a chance again. |

| Unless you were a teenager when it came out, there's no way you could ever understand why it's so good. 'Cause it's not good, looking back. But for some reason it seemed good back in 1994. |

Presumably you first heard Emperor after Ihsahn's solo stuff, therefore, as that comment otherwise makes little sense. Later Emperor albums shouldn't remind you of albums that came out years later, it should be the other way around. Even then, apart from a small amount of stuff on the first Ihsahn album being vaguely similar to the last Emperor album, I don't see the comparison. |

| From what I listened to his solo stuff, it seemed much more cringeworthy than the last Emperor albums. Or any Emperor for the matter. |

Isahn's looking a little 'frazzled' - presumably this was after the mis-judged firebreathing attempt? |

I bet this one was taken from their '93 UK tour and that Warren Schofield tardo is either one of the twats at the table or taking the picture himself. _________________ Thread derailed
