I'm so fucking tired of this bullshit of people asking for "secret" ( although they don't say that) offers for the records they are selling. So many people hate "eGay," but yet so many people try to sell their records by asking for these stupid offers that are even WORSE. For example,
Person A: " Just make me an offer on Record X"
Person B: "How about $$$?"
Person A: "Thanks, but I think it's worth more than that"
OK, THEN JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO SELL THE RECORD FOR OR PUT IT ON E-BAY AND DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW GAY IT IS TO SELL RECORDS FOR WHAT YOU OR OTHER PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE WORTH!
fUCK !!!
I hate "make me an offer." That's my opinion. Explain to me yours. |

I don't mind it when they're looking to trade something because I understand how they feel; half the time I don't know what I'm looking for until I find it, having random offers or tradelists thrown at you might let you find something you weren't thinking of.
But if they're trying to sell it though, yeah, it can be annoying... at least knowing what the highest offer they've had so far gives you somewhere to go from rather than just stab in the dark. |

I totally agree with you brother. I made "reasonable" offers from time to time, but the result is exactly what you described...
*EDIT* I think sellers who want to make big $$$, must post the price thy want to sell and if no one is interested, then ebay is a good solution |

Basically everything and everyone has a price, you just need to find it. This method of aquiring properties be it of the material kind or of the flesh has existed since someone else had something someone else wanted so many lifetimes ago already.
Annoying ? Yes. However this is why bartering exists. What I find annoying is that these people do not understand that. When you name a price in offer they need to counter and you work from there.
Generally people have grown stupid and lost this concept. |

| it gets frustrating when you make somebody a good offer (around current ebay prices) and they respond like "oh, is that all it's worth? i think i'll keep it in that case." also it makes it extremely hard for me to make a good offer to europeans with the awful exchange rate. 30 eur = $50... but on the other hand, it is also annoying when somebody PMs you, "how much do you want for XXX?" and you genuinely have no clue what to tell them for a price. |

Isn;t there a website which lists the highest prices for a particular record sold on eBay? Sellers / buyers could use that as a rough guide. Don;t waste time playing guessing games. _________________ Looking for DEATH METAL bands!

If your too lazy to do something THAT simple then you shouldn't be selling stuff. Despite how high the price would be, if I cared about it (and if my broke ass had the money) I would buy it.
I won't even look through lists of people who say "make me an offer" etc. I also won't even repsond to orders where people say "I will give you so much for these items". |
That's why you're one of my favorite sellers , fuck this offer stupidity. |

Yup, that's the one. Well, i guess it could do with more contributors like buyers/sellers from this forum
Then, there'll be less bullshit about "make me an offer i can;t refuse" _________________ Looking for DEATH METAL bands!

The "make an offer" or "make a bid" way of record dealing has
been in existence long before internet / ebay existed.
Just because it says "make an offer" doesn't mean you have to
offer a zillion bucks. You offer what you think the record is worth.
Offer not good enough? Make a new one or start looking for another
source.
Gosh, as someone said before, it's all about bartering, done like that
way before you guys where flushed out of your mother's womb.
Whine on.
Edit:
Can't emphasize this enough - quoted from a post above:

When I write "make an offer" in my sale list, it often means that I don't know what's a record is worth ... I do not want to be Jewish but I'd like to get the right amount of money for it ... _________________
