Entire "black'n'roll' or "death'n'roll" styles cause me to vomit, so no.
and yes I realize this album hasn't mcuh/anything to do with that, I dislike it for other reasons |

| This album is total crap, just like everything after Nemesis Divina. Satyricon is one of the most remarkable examples of a band going from genre gems to utter bullshit. |

Agreed.
Only complaint is that the production isn't great. The production on their later albums would have actually suited it better- thicker, more filled-out, etc. That's not to say it sounds bad, but if you compare the Age of Nero and Rebel Extravaganza purely from a production standpoint, you'll see that RE could have been a lot fuller sounding. |

Oh shit, not this again. Snorre Ruch doesn't ghostwrite their songs or arrange their albums. For fuck's sake. |

Really like this album. Cold, mechanical aggression! Having said that, I haven't listened to it for years, will rectify this soon.
I quite like Volcano too...Now, diabolical I thought was not good, with a few exceptions.
I haven't really listened to any Satyricon in years though, but always regarded The Shadowthrone as their best. |

| When Rebel Extravaganza came out I really liked it then I listened it a few months ago after years but it really wasn't same, I found it boring. But I totally agree this is the last good Satyricon record. Yes from me just because the fact I really enjoyed the album back then. |

| The early Satyricon stuff is really boring to me. I didn't like them at all beyond some material on Nemesis Divina until Rebel Extravaganza came out. I really like the material from 2000-onward. The lyrics are total shit, but the music is excellent. |

A monumental work of cold attack.
This album is, the best thing they have released to date.
Although next on that list is Intermezzo...
The obvious influence and work that Snorre did on Rebel pushed it far beyond where Satyricon was dwelling. _________________ Iron and Fire |

Great description. I don't get why the album is so polarizing at all. The early stuff is just bland and by the numbers to me, and RE sounds pretty unique. My only complaint about RE is that it's a bit bloated. The songs don't need to be so long. Don't like anything after ths album. |

I can see why some people like this album, but to claim it's better than Shadowthrone or ND is absurd. Shadowthrone in particular is a riff fest and one of the absolute pinnacles of Norwegian black metal. _________________ Thread derailed
