| I was quiet "shocked" when I saw this album had only 49% on metal-archives. I thought everybody loved it. I think it's a very good album. I would like your opinion about it. I think it's their last good album. |

This album is wicked.
It is cold, it is clinical, it is like a mechanical frenzy of heartless merciless fury.
It is indeed the last album before they... commercialized themselves a little with the full on black and roll approach.
I wish they would go back to this albums manner again. |

How appropriate, I am just going through their old albums, so I think I'll find out in a couple of days. It has been a few years since the last listen. Not a favorite evidently. Of course I hated it at first because I was caught up in Nemesis Divina, but at least at one point I must have been particularly receptive to Rebel Extravaganza because I managed to like it despite the speed and other things. Perhaps I've been able to retain that opinion. _________________ §:-«l |

Was just about to post a poll for the best post-Nemesis album when I saw this thread. RE is what I'd call a transition album, it's half baked compared to the first three and not rock'n'roll enough to fit their late style, which results in rather dull songs and annoying "we're grown up metalheads" posing. Now Diabolical is their most inspired post-'96 album imho. _________________ Thread derailed

The same here. I have the promo cd from Nuclear Blast and I will listen to it soon again. |

Satyricon became a much better band after Snorre Ruch started ghostwriting and arranging their albums. _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

| I remember seeing a thread about this album a while ago and surprised that many people think it's their BEST! Compared to the old stuff it's terrible. I do like the EP that came before (or maybe after) it with the Sarcofago cover. |

Next to Spiritual Black Dimensions and Emperor's Anthems this album was the introduction to black metal for quite a lot of people so that explains it. The first record you listen to will always hold a special place in your heart. _________________ Thread derailed

Sarcofago cover sucks, Nemesis Divina side B is the best Satyricon right after this album... that's where the transition began I think. _________________ ok but who are you damn i have lot of orders

Also had this on promo-CD, but some asshole stole it from me. Good album, way better than Nemesis Divina. Saw them on that particular tour later in January 2000, with Hecate Enthroned and Behemoth.
Great times, seems like yesterday. |
