I don't know why 'Thy Mighty Contract' has so many votes. Though it's a really great album, I think NON SERVIAM is infinitely superior. Just my opinion, obviously.

| I really like everything RC did from Santus Diavolos onward, but it gets too repetitive at times. Listening to the new album now, and I really like it, but the same complaint stands. |

Yep, there was a time when Sakis actually wrote RIFFS. Nowadays, it's just a matter of writing a weak main melody of single notes (no chords), adding some chugging rhythm guitars underneath playing the root notes, and then layering on additional guitar tracks and samples to hide the fact that there's no substance anymore. If you listen to anything post-Triarchy, the formula is completely predictable and maddening. It didn't get that bad until "Genesis," where the formula became unbearable (just listen to the construction of the first two tracks - same shit).
Someone needs to lock Sakis and Themis in a basement with an old 4-track recorder and tell them to write an album with no bouncing of tracks. |
