GREAT POST!
Nails it:
"Absu, Black Funeral, Black Witchery, Crimson Moon, Demoncy, Grand Belial's Key, Thornspawn, Wind of The Black Mountains etc. Full Moon Productions was a major player as well"
Along with: ABAZAGORATH, HEMLOCK and KRIEG.
Yeah, I'm old and remember USBM when even USDM people weren't too into it!! HA! _________________ Too Old, Too Cold |

i saw sarcophagus at milwaukee metalfest in '98 and they fucking wiped the stage with all the other bands. this was after they "switched" to black metal. i think judas iscariot wasn't really a band-band at that point, still just andrew solo . . . _________________ http://www.ugEXPLODE.com

The Metal War documentary. The Thornspawn interview is epicly retarded as well. |

I was just telling my girlfriend about Blood Storm last night. Great band, really wicked riffs. Are they still doing anything? |
Last thing was that split with Abazagorath from '08, have no idea if they're working on any new material but I would definitely like to see 'em live again. Killer stuff! |
ABAZAGORATH has new EP out on their bandcamp page, I think for free download. Good stuffs.
This thread is filled with all the best bands from the USBM.
That THORNSPAWN interview is hilarious.
I'd throw in MURDERGOD, MANTICORE, INQUISITION, I SHALT BECOME, CULT OF DAATH... |

^^agreed, here. Moribund and Red Stream were my two sources of KVLT back in the early 2000s or so... crazy to see both appear to barely be clinging onto life... I used to do large wholesale orders with RS semi regularly though. and as I recall, Moribund had great acts (winds of the black mountain for example, another KVLT now dead guy as well...) but I also remember Moribund being a bit expensive to order from... I felt like they were breaking the rules early off, or one of the early labels to break the $10 CD mark. you know, the $10 CDs you could always count on from bands/labels... of course this is when we all bought CDs too. hahaha
*edit* Death Gasm was cool too as far as I can remember. I think he is still kicking around too. the Crimson Moon double disc digipack release was very fine indeed _________________ trade-want list/available list- http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20339 |

Yes and I still do once in awhile. They have good deals and interesting finds at times. |

I still regard the CD as the medium for Black Metal. That was by and large the preferred format during that period. |

Moribund will be releasing the new BITTER PEACE album, which may surprise some that there's still some to be had when it comes to USBM. The digital age has put all those independent guys in the tank tho... |

no arguments there! as I always say, in the early 2000's I only purchased vinyl releases for things I was not totally sure on... of course this predates samples and downloads where you actually had to BUY an album, which of course was a totally different experience when you had an investment in it. anyhow, once CDs started eclipsing $10, I began to buy vinyl stuff on said releases that were a roll of the dice because it was a CHEAPER format. can you even imagine?? hahaha _________________ trade-want list/available list- http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20339 |

I seem to remember ordering from Moribund by phone in 2000 or so...they had some really chirpy, polite girl taking the orders. It was like phoning Apple customer services or something. Not grim at all. Very surreal. |
