It might seem unbelievable to most, but there was a time when USBM had underground credibility. Judas Iscariot released cult fribees on Sombre, and Krieg had a brief love affair with MkM and End All Life. I remember Ibex Throne being one of the first bands I got in contact with back then. Their guitarist (old arch emeny of NK7) was a regular on the AML board, and I bought their D.E.A.D. demo through him for a few bucks. Nothing outstanding, but their singer had recently taken his own life, and that was of course very cult. Other key-players back then included Absu, Black Funeral, Black Witchery, Crimson Moon, Demoncy, Grand Belial's Key, Thornspawn, Wind of The Black Mountains etc. Full Moon Productions was a major player as well, and even Nachtmystium managed to get their first album out on Sombre. Anyone else here with fond memories of this now seemingly forgotten period? _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

Most definitely!
Important labels: Baphomet, Elegy, Blood Fire Death, Full Moon Productions, Moribund. Any others? _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

I have fond memories of the US scene pre-MySpace. Afterwards? Not so much.
Don't forget about Vukodlak. |

Yes, but a US label, didn't mean releasing us bands.... _________________ good deals with wolfram, mickO)), luca bright, Portentum, xyosefx, Chit019, bMz, Stygian shadows zine, funeralfog666, jesus iglesias, paria, humus, somberlain |

I remember the Ibex Throne guys had a decent Mayhem tribute page. Plus I think they did a tribute album with some other bands if I'm not mistaken.
Anyone remember Kult ov Azazel? They were semi-hyped about a decade ago. |

I saw these guys a couple years ago in New York with I think Black Witchery and Proclamation. Singer was pretty pissed when his set got cut short. |

| NIGHT CONQUERS DAY was a good band. Also VIKING CROWN/CHRIST INVERSION, but people hate them because of Anselmo. |

Yes, very unique atmosphere in the work of early occult US Black Metal bands. Most have already been mentioned, but Crimson Moon, Demoncy, Black Funeral, Yamatu are among favorites.
Also worth mentioning, the many related non-metal bands connected to some these acts: Profane Grace, Akrabu, Akhkharu, Equimanthorn and so forth... _________________ VASAELETH |
