I've given up ordering outside of Europe. At times the postage has been more than the cost of the things I'm buying. _________________

I mailed 5 cassettes to Russia for just under $17.
I had the PO clerk weigh a LP/tape with 1 extra piece of cardboard in a Hells Headbangers LP mailer that came to $25 to Northern Europe...
Dug out a really old scale to check package weights on the PO site & it seems to be accurate enough. |

Adding Registration, if necessary, is $37. Ouch. _________________ #NuclearWarMeow |

| The fee for registered airmail depends on the value of the package. I think? Seems like that's what a PO clerk once told me. I have never paid more than postage plus around $13 to reg. an airmail package to Europe. It's a pain in the ass to wrap the whole thing up in brown tape but it's rare that anyone wants it. |

If you do a decent size order it actually can be pretty cheap to order from the US. Once you hit the 4 lb mark where it has to go via priority postage is like $45, but only about $3 more for each additional pound. _________________

It is usually around $3...what is it now? |
Only went up pennies. |
SOME good news.
Thanks.
One thing I have noticed - Media Mail is slower than ever right now.
No reason it should take 13 days from Cali to NY. _________________ We Are Satan's Generation And We Don't Give A Fuck! |

Anyone try this yet?
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/shipping-globally.html
It's supposed to be much cheaper than going through USPS. I guess ebay is now in the business of shipping stuff. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

I haven't tried it yet, but this sounds like it will allow me to start shipping internationally again, without buyers having to pay for registered shipping.
Edit:
Some buyers from countries to which I'd like to ship aren't included (the inclusive list below):
Australia
Bulgaria
Canada
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
Greece
Hungary
Latvia
Lithuania
Malta
Portugal
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia

It states that the value of the auction IS listed on the form. I doubt most will want to pay the insane import fees that will surely follow. _________________ #NuclearWarMeow |

But single-CD/LP orders are the ones where the shipping really hurts, and they're also the ones where it won't matter much if the customs form says they paid the actual value for something (rare/expensive items notwithstanding). It also says you're allowed to offer other shipping methods for international customers, so those making a large or expensive order could choose First Class International and pay accordingly. This might be worth trying... _________________

That eBay shipping is kind of great news for buying/selling on there at least, it seems to take a lot of the risk out of selling to international buyers. Though it will probably generate a whole new level of pain in the ass if a buyer says something arrived damaged or they aren't happy with it for whatever reason? I could see pros/cons to this, but overall the pros seem pretty high. A tracking number from door to door. I wonder what shipping service they're using- is it USPS all the way? Maybe they explained that in there and I didn't catch it. _________________ ***************************
