Ironically, metal tends to be very attractive towards people looking for acceptance and socialization. Its easy to break in to a circle. Just agree about which bands rule, which bands suck and go to local gigs often.

It's like the last place people come to when failure to be cool anywhere else occurs, become a metalhead and goto a show and be friends with those that do not judge and never shower.

I know people rag on these cruises, but my wife and I had a great time on Barge To Hell last month. It was a great vacation. If they do anothe type like that with mostly death/black metal bands we'll go again. 70,000 Tons doesn't have a strong enough lineup.
It was a bit surreal sitting down to a fancy ass dinner, while Darkthrone played through the ships speakers instead of jazz or elevator music or something.
Was also strange to be relaxing in a lounge chair on the pool deck while Sakis and Necrobutcher chatted and watched Possessed right in front of us.
