As a descriptor, absolutely. Maybe some Return to Forever/Allan Holdsworth comparables but very little to do with jazz music....

I shiver when read Return to Forever here, where stupid albums like ITP or TSoP are protagonists.
Very predictably, he called me "poor retarded jerk". 
But the truth is, most people who want to portray metal as a "mature" kind of music are deluded losers.
I smile thinking at NK7 listening to Opeth and saying to himself "cazzo sì, io apprezzo la musica per adulti! adesso creo un thread sul forum NWN per far vedere a tutti quanto sono maturo. Gli ultimi album dei Death fanno al caso mio."

I have always enjoyed all of Death's output, with Spiritual Healing being my least favorable. I chose Human which is probably my favorite from the band.

They were young, they know better now. A 37yo releasing DTL albums while babbling about black metal being a way of life is clearly a very clever and grown up individual.
