Familiar as I was with some collaborations with Doug/DI6, some NON and his Music, Martinis & Misanthropy album, I'm lately amazed by the amount of bitterness and hatred put into the Hatesville album. Any other recommendation of this dude's vast musical output would be appreciated, and same works for other conceptually similar albums by different artists.

By the way, if anyone has enough spare time and is able to transcribe some of the tracks that aren't available on the net, I'd be really grateful. Sp. "Nation down for the count" and "The wandering parasite".

Hatesville is great indeed! Some of the stuff is really hilarious, though I'm certain most "normal" people wouldn't agree, hehe.
Also, just get it, there's some decent priced copies on Discogs. Still have to get it myself though.
Apart from that I'm not too familiar with most of his works.
There was a very interesting and long interview with him in one of the issues of Special Interests zine a while ago.

From what I've heard, I think he has done exactly one good song and nothing more. That would be "Embers." Very fine tune, that.

EDIT: Come to think of it, Spell is very good too. Of course, those are covers.

He's pretty cool for an attention whore. I enjoy the Hatesville, and MMM albums a lot.
The NON stuff is a less my thing but still very good when craving some abrasiveness.
The Iconoclast film and his assorted tv performances through the years are very amusing as well.

Death In June & Boyd Rice - "Scorpion Wind" (aka Heaven Sent) is really good if you haven't heard it. It's Boyd doing spoken word over DIJ sounding tracks from Douglas P and John Murphy.

There is also that weird collaboration album with is his then girlfriend (maybe wife) Giddle Partridge. "Going Steady With Peggy Moffitt" It's a weird 60's pop album.

Yeah definitely better than most of his solo output; one of my favouite albums in fact. Of his solo stuff, 'Total War' is a deserved classic track though.

'No' is definitely worth reading, and his Bob Larson shows are a must.

His guest appearance on Intoxica is great too, where he plays all his favourite 60s girl group records (google it, probably not hard to find a link)

I have to get it as well, and didn't consider the fact any lyrics or transcribed spoken parts could be on there apart from the two first tracks. Could anyone confirm that?

Indeed, "Embers" is a killer piece. What I know from Blood & Flame is excellent noisy stuff too. As for his books, I just browsed through Amazon and at least Standing... looks really overpriced. Thanks for your recommendations, keep 'em coming.

you can still get "No" for $20 through Heartworm Press.

The dude from Cold Cave is/was working to get all of Boyd's stuff back in circulation.

The early Non material (Black Album LP, Knife Ladder 7", Pagan Muzak 7") is essential if you like rhythmic noise and loops. I think musically it's his finest hour, because frankly the man cannot sing. "MMM" is a cool record though.

Other than the Non material I think his best contributions to the world are the books (Pranks, Incredibly Strange Films, Incredibly Strange Music) and other various essays (Standing in Two Circles is a good collection).

The documentary is good and very watchable despite it's length.

Wanted to see him open for Cold Cave in Cambridge MA... show was cancelled because he enables rape culture or some similar cultural marxist stupidity

This thread has too many posts that do not point out that Boyd Rice is an misogynyistic nazi!

I met him outside of Wax Trax Records in Denver when I was with a mutual friend. He was out jogging. I like the early noise records and the RE/Search books.

I think it's pretty obvious that when some say he's a nazi while others say he's a zionist, he's doing something right.
