Still no poll for the Tyrants of German Black Metal?
Even though I am fairly biased, here's my top three:
1. Asgardsrei (Remixed/Remastered)
2. Facta Loquuntur (Final Edition)
3. Der fünfzehnjährige Krieg
I have added the compact discs only...
And now... fight! _________________ Solitary Elitism:

Very difficult choise. I should be getting my copy of the new version of Asgardsrei on vinyl soon, so haven't heard the whole thing yet... Anyway, voted for DFK because of the version of Mourning Soul, haha. Can't get enough of it. Or the other tracks... or albums... damn it. _________________ Trades and wants: http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34496

| Totenlieder; for a while let's screw the nostalgia for Facta Loquuntur; this is an amazing album, all the tracks are good and fall into memory. It's just so fucking German; atmosphere abit like Menhir Hildebrandslied or Ziuwari if you can compare them with legend like Absurd. (they are outstanding band on their own though) |

Facta Loquuntur gets my vote. It being the only album I've heard in its entirety out of the whole discography.

Hendrik, why does Asgardsrei have so many different tracklisting?
I got a burned CD from my friend like 10 years ago and it had 5 tracks on it, but the new remastered one has 9. Are they bonus tracks? |

Very difficult, as I like all the albums really. Each has their own atmosphere and reflects the bands period.
I'd go for:
1. Facta
2. Asgardrei 2o12
3. Der Funfzehnjahrige |

Totenlieder was enjoyable, but I haven't heard anything since. I have some of the older demotapes and they were...amateuristic, to state it nice. And not in a good way.
I think they gained more popularity with their 'actions' than with their music. |

2. Der Fünfzehnjährige Krieg
3. Tie between Weltenfeind and Raubritter/Grimmige Volksmusik |

Yeeeeeees.

Nooooooo.
Although I can fully understand the want to improve the album's sound, in my opinion, the remix has rendered the sound too streamlined, too sleeked. It's certainly nice to have a punchier, heavier, denser, rhythmically more pronounced version of "Asgardsrei", but this effort of homogenisation often comes to the detriment of the album's musical uniqueness. Don't misunderstand me, I do enjoy the remixed version, but I'll probably always prefer the original mix.
I grew up with "Asgardsrei", so to speak, and it's the sole Absurd record I still hold in high regards, however flawed it may be, sentiments of nostalgia notwithstanding. It's similar to Countess' "Gospel of the Horned Ones" in that regard (although I find that "Asgardsrei" easily is the superior album in comparison), as it should be a complete trainwreck, but burns with a convinction which elevates it beyond its faults.
Also, "Der Sieg ist unser" off "Facta Loquuntur", because of the ingenious line, "Gott Jahwe, wir schlitzen Deinen Bastard auf!"

Obviously so. Let's face it, those first two albums + demos are amateurish, sloppy crappola German bm that nobody would have ever given two shits about were it not for the band members' highly heroic & aryan slaughter of a 100 lbs pre-teen. Not to mention that pathetic "EURONYMOUS WANTED TO SIGN US!!1!1" desperate tryhard publicity stunt that no one ever bought anyway, sure the dwarf might have replied their fan letters once or twice but that doesn't imply he actually liked that worthless junk of a Thuringian Rubbish demo (though he might have claimed he enjoyed it just like he did with virtually every band contacted him -we all know honesty wasn't exactly the guy's main strength).
Totenlieder and Blutgericht are a completely different issue though: solid and properly performed metal that ranks among the best releases to ever come from that shithole of Turks and gay activists commonly referred to as "Germany". It's kind of odd that such excellent albums are regularly ignored -or at least less frequently mentioned- by the fanboys of this band as they're clearly much better than Facta/Asgradsreich -or whatever that pile of crap is called. _________________ Permabanned |

2012 version of Facta (misses off the songs I never liked on the first version)
Original version of Asgardsrei
Never really got into the later stuff, but love the title track off Raubritter. |
