All great material. I don't necessarily rank it among the more well known Norse classics though. I'd put it with the Kvist album, first Taake releases, etc. Not the all time greatest but damn good anyway. Svartalvheim in particular is killer from start to finish. But I have little basis for comparison. I've hardly heard a thing from Ancient's later releases. _________________

One of the more unnecessary things I've done was when I bought The Halls Of Eternity, Proxima Centauri and Night Visit from a second hand shop a few years ago and effectively gave myself Asperger's.
The Cainian Chronicle may not be a masterpiece, but as far as soft norwegian stuff goes, it's okgay. The Pagan Cycle is nice. _________________ §:-Ğl |

It's a very entertaining listen if you can stomach the completely over the top theatrics. Much more so than the super dull early material. _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

For the record I thoroughly hated Mad Grandiose Bloodfiends and I've avoided it like the plague... I really need to gather some serious might to try again some day. I like how these guys too called one of their songs Sleeping Princess Of The Arges. Gelal wrote the better song though, so no win there... _________________ §:-Ğl |

Isn't that one composed by Demonic? Some of the riffs/melodies sound very similiar that can be heard on Doomstone album (where Demonic also plays guitar). _________________

You might be thinking of In Rapture By The Fenrir Moon. I think that is the only GBK (metal) song not composed by Gelal. The music on the demo is credited to Gelal/Demonic. I haven't heard the Doomstone album, maybe I should look into that.. _________________ §:-Ğl |

Somehow I had an impression that Demonic wrote most of the music for Triumph of the Hordes because Gelal had left the band for a moment. Which could explain more about his total dislike towards that demo.
That Doomstone album is totally recommended. Also the guys had killer names. Keeper of the Brazilian Death Metal Albums, Cross Turner Upside Downer... Heh. _________________

I read in some interview (I think?) that he wasn't really pleased with not only Lord Vlad's antics, but the guitar sound as well, which came out a bit messy. Good riffs, but I hope the upcoming remastered demo collection, which is like 2 years late now, would change that for the better. _________________ §:-Ğl |

Bands own website says Shitagogue Records, which would mean that they are releasing it by themselves.
More of Gelal's thoughts about Lord and Triumph of the Hordes demo can be read from this pretty good Dark Moon zine interview: http://www.darkmoonzine.net/dmz/history/issue07.htm#GBK _________________

This band sucks beyond belief. I have the Svartalvheimlp for anyone that wants to trade it for CDC - Haxan lp. _________________ One tail, one head :
