How do you guys keep your cassettes organized? Right now mine are sitting it an empty beer case and there's about 100+ and I'm looking for a way to have them more accessible. Did you cassette oriented dudes build something? Buy something? I'd like it to be wall mounted perhaps and figure my best bet is to build it myself. But perhaps there is another way? Some crafty thing you guys found at Ikea and converted? I'm willing to listen to your sane and sensible answers. Also pictures would be cool because pictures of stuff like this is awesome.

Thanks for your input and your time. Rest assured, I appreciate if you took the time to help me out.

Or we won't give a shit, one or the other. Laughing
I just don't have room for all my music. I have a roommate so I try and keep most of my stuff out of the main house and just back in my bedroom, and as it is the walls are lined with shelves of CDs, records, books, DVDs, etc.

I keep mine in a simple box as well. If I wanted something fancy, I would just go to a thrift store, swap meet or yard sale. Lots of people have these left over from the days when everybody listened to cassettes. I think the cost of materials to build one would be more than the price of a used one, unless you have some free wood lying around.

i keep ones i listen to regularly on the media shelf where my cds are. i also have a little drawer specially to store tapes, and a couple of cases for tapes i don't listen to all that often. they're not really organized though since there's no centralized hub for all of them.

I keep my tapes in random, disorganized piles...one of them is in my car and the other one is in my closet.

built four tape racks, you can see two in the background in this pic. (The other two are in the opposite corner of the room). All four racks combined cost me less than $150 in lumber from Home Depot. two 4'x8' sheets of 1/4" masonite (cut in half by a home depot employee cause each rack is 4' by 4' anyway) and 2 dozen 8 foot lengths of 1"x3" plywood. Hand saw, woodglue, handful of screws and some finishing nails......

Very, very cool. I definitely don't need something on that scale for my cassette storage needs but those look great. I built my own bookshleves a few years ago using a similar idea (except I used 2' x 6's to frame them making the entire thing a real motherfucker to drill through) and I was figuring I might have to resort to doing the same thing. I used to live in a converted industrial warehouse and could undertake such a project myself in my living room, no such luck anymore and I'm going to have to use my dads workshop. He's going to drive me fucking crazy!!
