Twilight of the Gods for me, is the most epic effort that man has ever created.
Mandatory period and I can't stand ''metalheads'' or fans of epic ,majestic, glorious music, who cannot appreciate these masterpieces. It's impossible!
About Nordlands, the first one is a fucking masterpiece and production seem OK (not modern) to my ears.Sound is classic Bathory and Quorthon leave some classic ''bad vocals'' here and there.Ring of cold and foreverdark woods are ageless epic diamonds and some of the greatest songs of Quorthon! How much epic can you get?
Blood on Ice needs no comments about its epic majesty.. |

Accusations? It's something that he admitted. Into Glory Ride had a huge impact on him. _________________

| Hoping Black Mark reissues Blood on Ice and Destroyer of Worlds sometime soon. The thrash albums can wait... |

| Blood on Ice is like 8/10 tbh. Very good album, but I can name many better viking metal ones. But why should I even bother, I'd get trashed by legion of brainless Quorthon cocksuckers anyway. |

Anybody who listens to "BLACK METAL ONLY!!!" is in no position to tell real metalheads what is good and what isn't. |

Mostly just hear this from older friends who were into Bathory very early on. I guess I can understand where they're coming from, it's like two completely different bands. Personally, I love both periods. ToTG or Blood on Ice for the pure Viking period (I know people put BFD in there too but for me that sits somewhere on it's own, between both periods, belonging to both and neither). Blood Fire Death is still my favorite Bathory release though. The Return comes in a hair behind it. _________________

Love the wiking-era material. I remember when "hammerheart" came out, this culter-than-thou dude i went to highschool with *hated* it; called it the biggest disgrace to metal since 'south of heaven' and was about to toss it in the trash until i convinced him to let me have it. I was smitten upon first listen, never thought of comparing it to the first three. Also never picked up on the MANoWAR vibe until i bought 'hail to englad' a few years later... _________________ "I can feel the AIDS in the air" --Voivod |

... I totally differentiate two phases; 1st 3 albums bm era and the 3 afterwards the viking era. both phases were excellent in itself, although different in sound. I remember when Hammerheart came out not everyone was into it, but I found it a killer straight away. Blood on Ice & Nordland I + II are all very good, but miss the originality of the 1st viking phase. The remaining (octagon, destroyer... etc.) I found boring. either phase you like about bathory, it is both the foundation of the bm scene now and then. _________________ +++ +++ +++ |
