I would like to see more Danzig songs written in the vein of "Thirteen."

Dissecting some of his later discography and there are some definitely good tracks amongst Circle of Snakes, Satan's Child and 777: COS has some pretty cool riffs and it's quite sludgy/heavy.

Agreed. I love 777 and feel 666 is overlooked and under appreciated

Agreed on both, x1000!

CoS has some great tunes as well. Black Angel White Angel became a favorite of mine after seeing it performed live. And even though it is probably time to go with a different opener, Skincarver sounds fucking killer live.

I'm guilty of being one of those "I don't want to hear anything after IV Danzig fans", but some of this later stuff is really cool. New album is really good in my opinion, has a nice dark mood throughout it.

I like the new record.
Yes, the production is not what it should be, but the riffs and songs are there.
It's a classic Danzig-styled record in a lot of ways, but a doomier one.
Gets better with repeated listens.

If the Zigga wasn't singing on the post '4p' releases would many listen to them? I've always thought his "metal" stuff was dumbed down squealing-guitar shite for Pantera fans and am genuinely surprised to see how many people dig them. Glenn's a legend but, fucking hell, I can't say I can sit through any later releases because they're so bladdy mediocre and abandon the high quality control he set over his career.

Everyone has their own opinion. Personally, I love all the post-4p albums - even Blackacidevil. And, I'm not a Pantera fan at all!

Would I listen to those albums if GD wasn't involved? I'd like to think so, but who knows? I've worshipped GD since 1986, and I like everything he's ever released (some more than others, of course) so it's impossible for me to separate. But I do know that, regardless of why, I am definitely into Danzig 5 - 10.

Got my ticket for the Long Island show!

I'm guessing the setlist will be similar to the set they played at the Blackest of the Black fest in Cali - tons of old stuff and 5 songs from HTGK - but who knows. I'd love to hear the whole album but I assume that's only for Riot Fest. Would love to hear "When the Dying Calls"!!

SAME! Immediately bought tix to the NH show. III is my favorite Danzig record, so even just a few extra songs live is good enough for me. Plus CoC opening is exciting, for me at least.

Prong's earlier stuff is great. The newer stuff is hit and miss. They're still excellent live, though.

III is one of my favorites too. "Do You Wear the Mark" is probably in my top 3 Danzig songs. And yeah, CoC opening is a nice bonus. I still remember when they opened for Danzig on the Lucifuge tour, along with Soundgarden. I saw CoC a couple of years ago and they were still great.

Memorable (well, to me anyway) moment from when I saw the HTGK tour back in the day: My friend and I drove from Long Island up to Spring Valley NY during a snowstorm to see Danzig play at a place called the Rage. Anyway, at the merch table they had a long sleeve that had a small Danzig skull on the upper left side, with HTGK on the sleeves. I asked the merch dude (it was that huge guy - Big John or something??? can't remember) what was on the back of the shirt. He held it up and said "Darkness" in a menacing tone (the back of the shirt was blank). I was sold. (Still have that shirt too!)

Can someone explain what Danzig's deal is with reissues of his material? I'm asking as someone who isn't an all-things-Danzig fanatic, but does enjoy pretty much all the material I've heard from him (which admittedly is limited outside of Misfits stuff).
