I think it's even worse and unimaginative when it is taken from a direct influence band. Thrash band with name like Bonded By Blood = I never even want to hear it. _________________ Planet Earth is great to visit but you wouldn't want to live there |

destroyer 666 is good tho..... I think. And yeah, name is really not that important once the music takes hold. But was the music so bad before? Was the music conjured by the name? Fuck conservationist in subtle ways he does not know about virgin earth. |

There are so many bands, new and old, I have never heard... so I can't help filtering some out based solely on the name... Sometimes I miss out on some good shit... _________________

I would Goatvomit upon the altar of Goatlord once I see another Sadogoat using his Goatpenis to penetrate the Goatvulva to release the Goat semen, I'm tired of this Goatsodomy.
Originality is the key. And for the record, that Goatwatchers united 7" is a disappointment to the goat family when it came out. _________________

| Goat Vulva is an excellent band name, and totally fits the nature of the releases! |

Diocletian is probably one of the better band names I've heard... simple, effective... _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/ngadke |

Yes that's good one!
Bathory, Root, Cancer, for example, are also good choices, I think... |

Sometimes, I confuse similar bands if the name itself is very typical to a certain style:
Kampfar/Windir
Thyrfing/Mithotyn
Nachtfalke/Falkenbach
Great White/White Lion/Quiet Riot
etc.
It's really not that easy to come up with a bandname that is remarkable, distinct for a certain genre and aesthetically at the same time. |

its common with punk, but given the aesthetics and style of the genre, some of them are very fitting. but then you have bands like Anti-cimex which is a swedish bedbug control company. |

I think BLASPHERIT is so obviously retarded that it's funny and good again, in the end.
At least this was a REAL satire, in opposite to all the other Blasphemy/Beherit copycats. And the real funny thing is, that this mimicry was even better than most of these "serious" tributes/copycats.
That bandname exactly fulfilled what he promised, no bullshit there. |
