Darkthrone's career:
- Solid, if not underrated at the time, death metal band (89 - 91)
- Innovator of second wave black metal, why they are famous (92 - 95)
- Stagnation / maturity, treading the beaten path (96 - 04)
- Re-branding, no longer straight forward BM band (06 - 08 )
- Capitalizing on rebirth as a band paying tribute to the old (10 - present)
Anybody who was expecting something that resembles the Darkthrone of old is simply not paying attention and/or delusional. I can't recall a Darkthrone album being released (first one I was "conscious" for was 'Hate Them') to as much hype as 'The Underground Resistance'. Most bands die out long before their 25th anniversary, yet Darkthrone is as relevant as ever (they were quite ahead of the curve on this boom in interest for new bands doing old school worship [particularly heavy and speed metal]).

I like the song and I like the idea of Fenriz trying to do Agent Steel type vocals.
Somehow, they are a "tribute to our youth / to the 80's" nowadays, but it is done with good taste and I love their old style productions - for me 'FOAD' and 'Circle the Wagons' ruled!
