So imagine if what made the big four the "big four" wasn't based on (semi-)extreme bands that were able to make their labels the most money, but rather were just the best or most influential bands of that time period. Who do you think the "big four" should have really been? In my opinion the big four should have been venom, sodom, hellhammer, and bathory. What do you think? _________________ "We must secure the extinction of the human race and apocalyptic future for all children" - 14 words. |

| The original big 4 all deserve their place, been listening to them a lot lately and was thinking about the differences between them last night: Metallica brought epic songs, Slayer -evil minor key structures, Megadeth -speed and melody combined, and Anthrax -syncopation. |

Metallica, Slayer and Venom for sure.
and one of these:
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Motorhead
Metallica and Slayer have been far more influental than a band like Hellhammer.. if you wanna judge by that. |

Metallica and Slayer would stay right where they are. As far as Megadeth and Anthrax I can't say they shouldn't be part of the big 4 but they aren't my personal favorites. I'd probably swap them out for Kreator/Sodom. _________________

This is the only real answer I think. I doubt any of the other bands would existed, at least not in the same form, without those 4. _________________ Listen to Countess. |
