While I'm usually not that prone to the thrashy side of black metal with the exceptions of Chicago-based
and Chilean bands, Quintessenz' "To the Gallows", that was released in December 2016, caught me
totally by surprise. Quintessenz' previous demo / EP / full-length releases were rather run-of-the mill,
which is why "To the Gallows" is a release that upped the ante in my humble opinion as there simply is
everything a headbanger can possibly ask for, relentless riffs Ó gogo, catchy hooks, at times awkward
yet daringly fitting vocal lines that reminds me of Master's Hammer's weirdness more than often. Just do
yourself the favour to check this solo effort out.

Thanks for recommendation! This sounds absolutely amazing! Love the weirdness of obscure Eastern European bands, and how they manage to blend (successfully)all those influences and atmospheres.I will buy the album.Great discovery!

I really looks just like that unfortunately. I mean, I don't even hear that much talk about it here in Germany, the native scene. It feels like not being on one of the go-to-labels, giving a pass on the limited editions up for pre-order-game to raise awareness, and getting rid of those hyperbolic yet empty release notes don't help much these days. Focussing on the music and releasing an utterly strong and fierce album isn't enough anymore obviously.

You're welcome. I'm glad to turn some ears to this great album. Yes, this is exactly one of the many aspects I love about this album. There's a lot going on that can possibly sound quite messy at first, but it all works out perfectly in the end, and I can honestly say that "To the Gallows" is, to me, exactly what is often referred to as a grower. It totally grabbed my attention right from the start, something that is rather unsusal for a recent release, still it's getting better and better with every listen, and the various evoked atmospheres create a great diversity that makes sure that it just doesn't get boring.

Listened to a few tracks. Had to order the record. This is great. Plus, the shipping was beyond reasonable.

These first two tracks are really, REALLY good! I don't even know how to describe this to others, which I suppose is a good thing.

This is just...perfect. Sounds trite, but I can't believe what I'm hearing. It's everything I want in this music: eccentric, endlessly creative, and just plain great riffs and vocals!

All around a fucking killer headbanging album. I'm false and stick to digital purchases these days so I wish there was a way to purchase the album instead of listening to it on Youtube.
