Just want to get the general feel of what the general opinion is about this band, seeing as they were a bit of underground favourites from what I can remember from back in 1999-2000 but went their own route obviously.

The last two albums are two of my favourite records of all time; incredibly beautiful and powerful. Great live band too. A great example of a band who've grown and matured their songwriting and sonic palette.

Got the first EP and Masterpiece Of Bitterness. Can't really remember much about either. Casually walked by the last few albums and was left with a feeling of not being deprived of anything of great importance. I'll take a closer look soon just to be sure, because I never really gave them a fighting chance anyway.

I prefer the older material, but I don't have a problem with their newer stuff. In other news, they're too style fag for me now. It's like they're Turbonegro ( I know this kinda doesn't make sense, no other point of reference) gone completely faggot. And fuck those fucking pigtails on the twink bassist.

Kold is a great album as well as every release by this band.

Kold was on the right side of Sigur Ros to still appeal to me massively, the last one on the wrong side.

When bands so radically change their style, why don't they just change their name too. Solstafir was a decent band but have turned gay.

Agreed with above on Kold. Possibly the only example of mainstream-sounding heaviness done with class.

Ok got the last two albums and Köld was not bad at all. I'll check out Svartir Sandar tomorrow but for now I can already say they kind of won me back over. I wish more bands could do that.

I'm looking at you, Cult Of Fire.

What's wrong with Cult of Fire? New album not as good as debut?

Cult of Fire is just a more occult orientated Dimmu Borgir. Keyboards upon keyboards and less about vampiric romanticism perhaps but what else is really different here?

Structurally, yes. Also, it's actually black metal...
