Three bands are up there for me:
DMDS era Mayhem
1980's Mercyful Fate
Dissection
I'd probably have to go with Dissection if forced to chose a single one because unlike the other two bands mentioned their discography is absolutely flawless. De Mysteriis dom Sathanas however is the ultimate Black Metal album, the pinnacle of the genre. |
