- back then, BM wasn't a specific music style, as strict as it is nowadays - it was just the themes and image that determined if a band was BM.
In the mid 80's, even Mercyful Fate were count as BM.

| I think Darkthrone. I prefer them to Bathory, because I heard them first at age 15 or whatever and they made such a huge impact. I was big into Swedish Death but I actually had a page of an interview cut out of some magazine that explained their philosophy long before I ever got a chance to hear them. Then I heard Soulside Journey, then A blaze... and I thought "what the hell? They've gotten WORSE????" But then I heard Burzum's mini LP and that opened my mind to Under a funeral moon and it was my most-played LP for about a year. It totally blew my mind how amazing that album was... |
