| Had never thought to say something like this, but honestly I couldn't care less about early Norwegian recordings that only live on the mysticism that once was when there's a vividly black pounding scene like the Nidrosian one right here right now. Most probably it's just a matter of time, but all our ol' Norwegian "heroes" have made fools of themselves by now -maybe apart of Mysticum- either way if it comes to the music or given statements and so I gladly focus on the bands that still are able to evoke an entity of the Black Arts. |

I still like a lot of the early Norwegian stuff, in particular:
Ved Buends Ende - "Written in Waters"
Emperor - "nightside/Anthems"
Darkthrone - everything up till Panzerfaust (the rest is ok but lost the feeling a bit)
Beyond Dawn - "Pity Love"
122 Stab Wounds - "Deity of Perversion"
Mysticum - "streams,,,"
Ulver - trilogy
Mayhem - DMDS (not too big on deathcrush but I think wolfs lair abyss was great. Shame they didnt continue down that path)
Burzum - all pre-imprisonment releases
Isvind - "Dark waters stir"
Satyricon - all up till nemisis

Fuck yeah, I love the last 2 Darkthrone LPs. The lyrics are kinda retarded, but overall they are great fuckin' albums I think. Play them a hell of a lot, and when I recently played 5 of the 7 moonfog releases I was again reminded how much crap that band released after Panzerfaust. So it's kick ass that they have returned to some form of glory.

desekrator - metal for demons/crucifixion overdose(though i know most people seem to hate it)
inferno - utter hell/downtown hades (most people seem to hate this too), though their newer stuff is better... |

I still listen to Mayhem DMDS. It has gotten better with age. I still listen to the Darkthrone classics. Other stuff like Immortal, Emperor, Ulver I listened to a ton when it came out (probably much more than any more recent stuff by any band) but not much any more.
Burzum I like but never got real into. Still might listen on a late night road trip. |
