I knew that's why I've been oddly possessed by this album lately. I mean I just listened to the original a while ago as I usually do, then the alternative mix I finally bought soon after and still Retribution has been popping up in my head constantly for some reason.

Pretty sure this is one of the best.

Not my cup of tea.

Bought the album at Sound Hole Records in Richmond VA the day it came out. It sounds like a lot of stuff that came out of Sweden around that time and after. I like the more death metal sounding first album and everything that came before.

Godly album. Destroys everything that supposedly sounds similar.

It came out in the USA in January 1996. I had a Metal radio show at my college and remember getting this in the mail. Great memory, great record.

'Somberlain' was always superior for me.
SoTLB is not bad ,but overrated a bit.

It's absolutely senseless for me to try and pick a favorite, but I prefer the production on Storm Of The Light's Bane over the one they got for The Somberlain, so I guess I rate it higher in that respect.

I always loved this record and still do. One of the earlier releases I owned when getting into black and death metal material. Eventually, The Somberlain would overtake this one between the two, but Storm is a fantastic album.

Boring band. This album in waaaaaaaaaay over rated, as is the whole catalogue.

Whoa. Same here. That store was 3 miles away from my parents' house. All my money in high school was spent there.

I, too, got this album when I was in high school, but it wasn't the day it came out. Regardless, this was one of the first albums of genuine evil and extreme metal that I ever heard. It wasn't twenty years ago, but I was still at an impressionable young age.

I played the CD hundreds of times. Thorns of Cromson Death is still one of my top ten metal songs of all time.
