This post made my eyes pop out!

A. Phil is one of my favorite trad doom singers ( fuck the haters)

B. Magic Circle is one of the best new doom bands going

HIGHLY ANTICIPATING THIS

I was expecting to hear a Magic Circle part 2, and to my surprise this does not sound like it at all. I can hear the influence of Trouble, and there is even some bluesy undertone in the riffs. Total heavy metal sound.

Verdict: This rules, and I'm glad Phil is back with the pipes. The new grand wizard of doom has risen...

Sounds awesome, I do have a soft spot of Swanson's crooning, I love his higher parts too. Heavy Metal Battering Ram.

Anyone know what the format of the release will be? Looks to be an OK length for a 7"...

Had one listen and it did feck all for me. Reminded me a bit of a Seamount (i had to pause for a minute there to remember the band name) album I bought once which just had fuck all happening on it. Th debut HO13 is one of my favourite albums of the last ten years and the vocal performance on it is on a different plane to anything else I have heard Phil Swanson sing on, including (and especially) the follow up HO13 albums. Maybe the stars just aligned for that one glorious release??

Sounds better than most of the stuff Phil has been involved with in the last few years, but I have to agree the first Ho13 album was his finest moment (and also his vocals on the first version of Atlantean Kodex - Hidden Folk) . I feel like he perfected his style on that album and everything he has done since kinda feels uninspired and like he's just repeating the same old stuff over and over again.

I reckon Magic Circle is just an inferior Ho13 so this band seems a bit pointless to me haha

I do agree that the first Ho13 is nigh on untouchable for modern doom, but this sounds fucking great to me. I also appreciate that Phil doesn't just repeat himself - Vestal Claret is very different from Ho13 and this is very different from both as well. Exploring lots of territory within doom and traditional heavy metal. I'll definitely pick this up.
