Sort of fascinated by this for some reason. Only two I can think of right now and they were indeed weird to begin with are Sloth and Intestinal Disgorge. Sloth seems to be releasing a new 'song' every day for a while now, maybe they are trying to outdo Merzbow or something?

If a band can afford to do it I don't blame them. I like the idea of releasing a song hours after it's recorded.

Ancient Dutch horde COUNTESS did a digital-only release. Curse them! Evil or Very Mad

If a band takes the piss regarding amount of releases I can see why net only would be the logical way of releasing it.

I know it's a weird example but when Trend Reznor was annoyed at his label he delivered an album to be released every other week to get himself released from his contract. I can see a point where labels will say "put it out yourself" when they can't cope with the volumes of releases a band is asking for!

Just makes me wonder if they would have never released anything in physical format in the first place if this was possible for them when they started. I would say probably. Though the second last ID was released on tape.

Granted they did let you download and print off the booklet and CD art(to stick on a CDr..). Kinda strange though to go that far and not just release it properly.
