After all that Pantera discussion elsewhere I got thinking about some lesser known bands I listened to in the very early 90's and Rostok Vampires sprang to mind. I used to own this album (linked) and listened to it constantly, no idea where it went in the end. Was anyone else into them?

Obvious Misfits influence of course!

Absolutely! Good stuff. I was on tour a few years back and we played/stayed in Rostok for a couple of days. I asked a few local punks near the venue "where are the vampires?". They looked at me exactly the way you would expect.

Haha. This comes as no surprise to me. Good to see someone else remembers them. I got the album above and Righteous Pigs 'Stress Related' at the same time, the latter got sidelined by the Vampires.

Definitely. Great band. They were on some very early Nuclear Blast compilations too.

One of the first vinyls I bought. The cover and the band name obviously helped.

Insane.. I think everything by the RV sucks (must be the nostalgic factor), but that someone prefers them over Righteous Pigs blows my mind..

Another great band from that era (and label): Impulse Manslaughter. And DEFECATION!

The band was not from Rostock, but from Dortmund area. Wink

Spermbirds were the best in americanized hc/punk, I like classic german sounding hc/punk too, this rips everything https://youtu.be/NYKbbbq4lcg

Rostok Vampires always were a sub par band, yet enjoyable every now and then. Haven't aged well, though.

I listened to some of their later material last night, for the first time. I agree with your statement. It seems they had a 'come back' album a while ago too; the music was not good.

I still really like the debut. Wink
