I could see myself doing so once I achieve a certain level of financial stability. I have to catch up on releases now that I'm employed and whatnot. If you live an otherwise minimalistic lifestyle and have all of your bills covered beforehand, why not?

Nowadays when I walk around a record store on payday I'll pick up five or six lps that I'm set on buying. But I usually just end up getting one or two because I know I need to save the money.

Sometimes I'm stunned how people these days afford all of these records and such. Perhaps the extreme metal community has secret trust funds lol.

Don't forget that social lives can be expensive, I really don't mind spending more money on transport, drinks, show tickets and food (in other words, spending money to hang around with other people) than I do on records. Some people would rather spend their money on records and don't really go out (nothing wrong with that for the record, do what you want with your life & money). Having a high paying job with low living costs helps too of course.

My weekly pay is $1,000 - there's just not enough stuff I want to spend that much on in one hit. Then with rent and groceries to buy I can't be doing this anyway.

I usually spend around $300 every month or two these days

When I was in high school and working part time I did until I got sick of arguing with drunken parents for gas money despite having a job.

Nowadays I aim to not, I allow myself one purchase each check and hope I never find anything I actually want.

I'm in this camp. I get a modest budget to spend on music etc, don't really go out and drive to shows so don't really spend money on anything else bar food, used to spend a lot on drinks at home, not any more.

I daresaay that I could easily blow a whole fortnight's wage if I went to a festival that had a lot of good bands playing but otherwise there is never enough stuff out that interests me to warrant more than about 30 a month.

I get paid fortnightly and tend to buy at least something each pay, I try and keep it sensible however there are certainly times when I blow the budget, and it happens more frequently than I'd like to admit.

Student, working 18 hours per weeks. Absolutely no problem in spending an entire paycheck on music. Altough i usually keep money for movies, drink and girlfiriend. But it's a small budget compared with the money i put in music.
