Very underrated film. I guess the low budget, lack of gore for the time, and slightly incoherant plot made it fall into obscurity. I personally think it's a very good 80's interpretation of the classic monster movie.
It's certainly infinitely better than most modern horror (and that awful sequel...)

Watched Homefront which was pretty shit, but I was kind of expecting that. No-brainer "action". James Franco seemed quite miscast as the bad dude..not very convincing. His character seemed pretty fucking inept and out of his depth too..

Out of the furnace. It was alright. Noticed a vague parallel with The Machinist too..but nothing at all alike otherwise.

Re-watched Black Swan.

The only Halloween I like. I'm not big on slasher flicks.

Yeah, slashers don't do a lot for me either but I do enjoy the original Halloween. That being said, III wasn't terrible. Tom Atkins was good as a lead and the story was ok.

King Kong, original, what a fucking great movie. Aside from how groundbreaking and the intense amount of work that went into to it, this is one savage fucking movie. I mean holy shit, people die HORRIBLE deaths and the soundtrack of the entire 2nd and 3rd acts consist of people screaming in horror along with sustained maniacal animal growling. Once this movie gets going it never lets up for a second. The scenes on the island with the impossible jungle are otherworldly, lots of bizarre dinosaur like creatures that attack Kong every 5 minutes resulting in a brutal beating to the death, there are seriously, over 11-12 falling deaths in slow motion with bodys smashing into rocks and sometimes directly onto pavement. Kong picks up people and chews on them before stomping their bodies into the ground, my favorite scene is when he beats the shit out of a subway car for no reason. Great fucking movie that is far superior to any of the sappy remakes that remove Kong's homicidal impulses and turn him into a lovable underdog.

The Raid 2 was insane. Amazing how talent and style can make such an awesome action movie for an alleged $4 million when Hollywood continues to turn out turds that cost 25 times as much. The theater was near empty so I don't see this as sticking around for long, go see it while you can.

Trivia: The medical staff was 4 times larger than that of the first film. See the movie and you will know why!
