I keep hearing that and it sucks, because with such a cast and director you'd expect it to KILL. I'm still going to watch it at some point, but hearing these bad reviews blows..

I think the problem lies with Cormac Mccarthy being a novelist rather than a screenwriter. The dialogue sequences just didn't flow as they undoubtedly would have on paper. resulting in everything feeling forced. A real waste of talent if you ask me.

This pretty much hits it on the head. The dialogue just does not translate to screen at all. You do see Cameron Diaz fuck a car though, so you know, you've got that to look forward to if that's your thing.

Just watched 'Hamburger Hill' for the first time. Very good film albeit graphic - as amazing as some of the major Vietnam movies are, this definitely feels a lot more real than most of them.

Platoon is great but still feels kind of Hollywood, and Apocalypse Now is essentially a fantasy in many ways and for the most part doesn't centre on the war if it makes sense. Hamburger Hill throws you into it.

^I didn't like Platoon very much. Apocalypse Now is a psychological drama with war in the background, I really like that movie. Haven't seen the redux version though.

Yep Apocalypse Now is great. And I see what you mean about Platoon but still think its a great film. I wonder if Mr. Sheen was high on 'Charlie Sheen' back then...

Just started watching True Detective. That scene in the car in the first episode is awesome. "I'm a philosophical pesimist. Human consciousness is an evolutionary mistake".

Great film.

The redux has more than 60 minutes extra footage added into the movie, but to be honest i prefer the original version.
