As serious as this movie is supposed to be, I can’t get over how hilarious the surplus scene is.

Agreed, Martyrs and also Frontiers is very good. Might need to watch Frontiers this week along with Martyrs. Keep a theme going.

EDIT: Perhaps even Trouble Every Day

Some of the late '90s/early 2000s stuff that preceded those straight-up horror films is pretty good. In My Skin, Sombre, Gaspar Noe and Catherine Breillat's films, all worthy of checking out if you're into the "extreme" end of artsy movies. Most of the later horror films from that wave just remind me of shitty American mainstream horror from the time but with a dose of French pretentiousness.

Knock Knock (2015)

From the director of Hostel...Two 21yo girls get their kicks by seducing and humiliating married men, in this case a 43yo man (Keanu Reeves) in his house. This movie is much better & more amusing watching a 2nd time, the girls are a special 'off their ritalin' type of crazy & end up being more destructive than the average gremlin, one even starts howling like some kind of terrier dog...it's got a great scene where they mock him for being a monster
