had some friends over, so I threw some movies on:

Don't Go In The Woods Alone! - 1981 slasher-piece that is great mostly for its surreal ineptitude. Everything about this movie is odd, the acting, the editing, the dark mountain forest in the film couple with the simple synth soundtrack, the slasher himself looks like an xtreme train hopper crusty punk who kills campers with sharpened sticks. Humor is derived from a scene where a guy in a wheelchair falls over and can't get up. The gore is decent and plentiful, some slashing scenes are rather prolonged and brutal, the movie sucks but I like it more than any of the bland Friday The 13th flicks.

Cannibal Cookout - 80s shot on video piece of shit, it starts out with some highschool students going camping and one guy has a home made Cro Mags patch on his denim vest. That was the best part of the movie, I turned it off after 15 minutes, it was too fucking terrible.

Buio Omega (Beyond The Darkness) - sleazy "erotic" and utterly depraved Italian horror about a guy obsessed with his dead girlfriend who he keeps around in his bedroom, so he randomly and clumsily kills other women to replace her organs or limbs, its never really made clear what he is doing but there is a lot of mutilation. He lives in a nice old uppity country house and jogs most of the time, he has a weird euro-milf that assists him in hacking up hitch hikers and such. The gore is great, and D'Amato has a leisurely lingering pace that lets scenes develop naturally in real time, which makes sense as this movie has no fucking plot to speak of. Awesome Goblin soundtrack, mandatory viewing.

Deadbeat At Dawn
- Jim Van Bebber directs and stars in this 80s homegrown action masterpiece featuring street thugs knifing, robbing, backstabbing, and beating the fucking shit out of each other for a solid 80 minutes or so. EVERY SINGLE THING about this movie is great, I cannot find one fault other than film industry itself for not giving this guy a career as either a director or action star. Gory, intense, scummy, endlessly rewatchable, one of the best.

^^^ Been a big fan of Deadbeat At Dawn ever since getting a bootleg VHS copy many moons ago. Whilst he would not be out of place in the industry, Van Bebber is pretty notorious for being 'difficult'. I recall Synapse putting up phone messages from him on their website back in the dial-up days when he was shitfaced drunk and berating them over the quality (which was fine) of the DAD Dvd release.

Recent-

The Shining
Cannibal Apocalypse
Across 110th Street
The Big Racket (glorious poliziottesco)
Strike Commando (got halfway through it last night...... not enjoyable even with bourbon)

Great filmmaker and very fun person to drink and smoke with. DIY seems to be the only way for him to get things done. Hopefully "Gator Green" won't take 10 years. He's trying to crowdfund it at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gator-green if anyone feels like kicking down.

Just in case anyone is interested I set his rants against a Winter loop back when Don May posted the messages, it can be found here - http://www.mortado.com/realaudio/deadbeat/Napalm_Jim.mp3

You can get an idea of how long ago that was by the directory name above Smile

Going to watch Max Hardcore vs Jessie tonight. Apparently it is the roughest porn scene ever filmed....

Max was a lunatic so I expect nothing but the worst Very Happy

Update: Watched that scene and holy shit! No wonder no camera men were allowed. It's just Max and a hand held camera. He put's this girl through some serious degradation. Maximum filth defined.

Ah, I've seen both of these. Didn't remember/realize they were made by him.

Rewatching NARC for about the 6th time... I just saw it's on netflix streaming in HD, so I figured I'd watch it , I've never seen the HD version, but honestly considering the grainy quality of the film, it doesn't need to be seen in HD at all.

oh and I watched Sexy Evil Genius late last night. interesting but not great, I like that style of movies (dialogue driven, takes place in one room like The Big Kahuna and Carnage). Plus I love Michelle Trachtenberg and Seth Green is ok. I had just finished watched Battlestar Galactica 2004 series (and then Caprica) for the first time last week so it was cool to see Katee Sackhoff again. lots of My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult references in the movie, which threw me.

Yeah, he defiled that girl to no end. At least he was polite when she was dehydrated and let her drink his piss.

One of the sickest and most repulsive movies of its time - and probably d'Amatos best.
